Ah, the fitted sheet. The hero of a comfortable bed and the undisputed villain of laundry day. For years, people have wrestled this shapeless fabric into a crumpled ball and hidden it in the linen closet, hoping no one would notice.

But what if we told you there’s a simple, no-nonsense method that professional laundries have been using for decades?

As a family that's been in the laundry business here in Rochester for over 40 years, we've folded literally hundreds of thousands of fitted sheets. Today, we're sharing the secret. Here is the simple, step-by-step process to get that perfect, crisp rectangle every single time.

The Professional Method: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: The "Inside-Out" Corner Tuck Stand holding the sheet by the two corners of one of the shorter sides. Turn one of the corners inside out and tuck it directly into the other corner, so the seams line up perfectly. You should now be holding two corners neatly nested together in one hand.

Step 2: Walk it Over While still holding the nested corners in one hand, walk your other hand down the long edge of the sheet until you reach the next corner.

Step 3: Repeat the Tuck Pick up that third corner, and just like before, tuck the fourth and final corner into it. You should now have two neat "pockets" of corners, one in each hand.

Step 4: Bring Your Hands Together Now, bring your hands together and flip one set of nested corners over the other. All four of your corners should now be tucked neatly into one single "pocket." The sheet will be hanging in a rough rectangular shape.

Step 5: The Final Fold Lay the sheet down on a flat surface (like a bed or a clean table). Straighten the edges to form a clean rectangle. From there, you can simply fold it into thirds, first one way, then the other, to create a perfect, storable square.
